Floor in a wooden house - instructions for beginners, recommendations for choosing the material (120 design photos)

In an area rich in forests, the tree has historically been the main material for the construction of housing. Now, it would seem, the construction industry has stepped far forward - however, wooden houses still continue to be in great demand. And this is no coincidence, because they have a number of important advantages, including a pleasant appearance, smell, good indoor climate. In addition, wood has excellent thermal insulation properties.

However, the weak point of cottages made of timber or logs is often a poorly insulated roof, windows or floor. That is why they need to pay special attention during construction. If you want your wooden house to have a warm floor, you should approach its arrangement wisely.

How to make a floor in a wooden house

The design of any floor is almost always a kind of puff cake. In addition to a beautiful topcoat, working on the interior of the room, there are also insulating layers hidden from the eyes, a base that can absorb the load, and so on. The thickness and structure of these components depends on many factors.

In a wooden building, the floor structure has the following distinctive features: it must be well insulated, have effective vapor and waterproofing.

And the choice of base in this case is limited only by two options - wood or concrete. To determine which floor in a wooden house is better, let's take a closer look at these two options.

Wooden floor construction

In this case, compacted soil, brick pillars or interfloor reinforced concrete flooring may be used as the basis, if we are talking about the construction of the floor of the upper floors. This is followed by a waterproofing layer, for which roofing material or roofing is usually used.

Wooden logs are installed on top, between which a heater is laid. Then follows a layer of vapor barrier film. And already laying floor boards on it - often in several layers.

Concrete floor construction

Here, soil is used as a base. A thermal insulation layer is poured on top, which is sand or small gravel. Bottom and top of this layer is recommended to lay a vapor barrier film. And only then concrete mixture is poured onto the whole structure.

After hardening, which takes about three weeks, the turn of a layer of cement-sand screed comes. Then it is installed on the front decorative coating - tiles, parquet, laminate, linoleum ... Any option from a wide range of floor materials that you like.

Advantages and disadvantages of two types of construction

The quality of the floor is determined by such aspects as the period of its operation, resistance to damage, surface smoothness. In these parameters, concrete, of course, beats wood. It seems more reliable and durable, not afraid of high humidity or fungus, it is quite difficult to deform it.

In defense of the tree, I want to note that with careful observance of the operating conditions, it can last as long as concrete ... But it is not so simple to ensure that all these conditions are met. As for the smoothness of the front surface of the floor - here, too, concrete is undoubtedly far ahead.

A huge role is also played by factors of complexity, price and installation time. How much will all the necessary work cost, how long will it last, and will the amateur be able to do everything well and beautifully on their own?

It is believed that working with a tree is harder and longer, and the cost will be considerable. However, do not forget that concrete, however, requires a more powerful foundation, since it has significant weight.

And yet, despite all this, people very often give preference to a tree. Why? The answer is extremely simple - due to the excellent aesthetic properties of this material and the sensation of warmth that it gives.

Artistic possibilities of wood: color and texture

This natural material, unlike even its very best imitations, has a very attractive unique texture. Such a floor acquires a particularly spectacular sound when processed with special varnishes. It can become glossy, matte, acquire an interesting vintage look.

And even the color of the wooden floor in the house can be adjusted using varnishes with coloring pigment. However, it is worth noting that even without adjustment, the natural shades of wood are very attractive.

Someone may note that concrete in combination with decorative coatings also has the ability to incorporate many shades and textures into the interior of the room, including those imitating wood. That the artistic possibilities of such a combination are even wider.

However, there are two things to remember. First, imitation almost always loses to the original. And, secondly, theoretically, the same decorative coatings can also be installed on a wooden substrate. But why, if it in itself has excellent aesthetic characteristics?

The use of wooden boards as a tool for professional designers

Another feature of the coating of wooden boards, which is often used by designers, is its graphic design. It forms a certain rhythm and direction, which, with the right approach, can transform the interior, make it more interesting and dynamic.

There are several basic tricks: firstly, boards are often laid in the direction of movement, giving the space greater clarity and consistency. Secondly, the room seems lighter and more spacious if the boards are perpendicular to the plane of the windows.

And finally, the visual perception of the proportions of the room can easily be changed, for example, emphasizing its elongated shape with the direction of the wooden coating. Or vice versa, creating the illusion of a wide hall, placing the boards parallel to its narrower side. All these tricks can be found in the photo of the floor of wooden houses created by professional designers.

What kind of sex you find as the best option as a result depends on your goals, preferences, and the budget you have. However, all existing varieties can be a great effective solution if there is a clear understanding of their advantages, disadvantages and capabilities.
